Lehigh River - Hickory Run Group Campground
Organized Group Tent Camping at Hickory Run State Park , , Albrightsville, PA, 18210

Event Type

The Lehigh River offers a fun and approachable Class II–III whitewater experience, with a steady mix of moving current, splashy wave trains, and a few more technical sections to keep paddlers engaged. It’s a great river for building skills and confidence, with forgiving lines, plenty of recovery pools, and lots of opportunities to catch eddies and play along the way. At typical release levels, the rapids are lively but manageable, making it ideal for novice to intermediate paddlers or confident beginners looking to step up, all set against a scenic backdrop of forested hills and railroad-lined riverbanks.

The club has some gear available to loan, but please understand that availability depends on both the equipment being available and either you or a volunteer having the time and vehicle space to transport it to the river. If you need to borrow gear, please let us know as early as possible.

If you’re able to help by picking up and transporting extra gear, or if you’re willing to offer a carpool (most likely from NYC or the Philadelphia area), please let us know when you sign up. Your help makes it much easier for new paddlers to join the trip.

We’re camping at Hickory Run Group campsites and have a site reserved for Friday and Sat. nights with the possibility of adding Sunday.
Now featuring bathrooms with showers on site with comfortable, large sites.

Food will be pot luck unless someone volunteers to coordinate. Contact us to volunteer or learn more. KCCNY will supply a gas griddle and some food.

Plan on bringing some stuff to contribute and helping.

Adult beverages are technically prohibited so plan on being discreet (like drinking from a mug). Final pro-tip. PA has weird beer laws. Plan ahead or plan on paying bar prices in White Haven.

Notes: If you pay for camping you will be approved automatically for paddling by the website. Coordinators have the right and responsibility to make sure you are appropriate for the paddling part of the and group. If for whatever reason they do not feel comfortable with you on the trip camping fees will be refunded upon request.

And everyone is expected to help with shuttle.
